I have read many comments about predictability, blah, blah, blah! I found this film refreshingly entertaining for all ages. There was something for
everyone. Being a female around the same age, I can relate to Jodie Foster since I practically grew up with her!! And I do feel it was great seeing
her in a lighter movie than she's been making lately.
Abigail Breslin was cute as always. She definitely can hold her own, but then she always has.
Gerard Butler - well I can never say enough about him. That's why I put great movie in more ways than one. To see him in two roles was just great. My
daughter who is 15 got me into him from "Phantom" to "Dear Frankie" to "300" (and I hate war movies usually) to "Tomb Raider" to "P.S. I Love
You" and now this movie. We went with 4 of her friends, and after wards we had a discussion on which "Gerard" we liked better. The vote was four
for the swash-buckling Alex Rover (myself included) to two for the more clean-cut Jack! We all agreed that we loved this movie.

Krajem idućeg mjeseca u kina izlazi parodija na filmove o superherojima, tako da su se na piku našli Spiderman, X-Men, Batman Begins, Fantastic Four
i Superman. Film je najavljen još 2006. godine, a snimanje je potaknuto dobrim odazivom publike na Mrak Film 4. Ekipa koja je radila ostale Mrak
Filmove, kao i Goli pištolj te Ima li Pilota u Avionu?, sudjelovala je u stvaranju filma Superhero Movie tako da se od njega može očekivati isti
tip humora.
Radnja se uglavnom temelji na sprdačini Spiderman serijala, tako da mladog luzera Ricka Rikera ugriza mutirani vilin konjic zbog čega dobiva razne
super moći. Te moći neuspješno koristi za borbu protiv zla, te se proziva "Dragonfly". Njegov protivnik postaje Lou Landers koji se tokom pokusa
preobrazio u zlikovca "Hourglassa" koji svojim moćima drugim ljudima krade životnu energiju kako bi stekao besmrtnost.
Većina glumaca iz serijala Mrak Film našla je mjesta za sebe i u ovoj parodiji, pa se uz Pamelu Anderson i Saru Paxton pojavljuje i Leslie Nielsen
kao Rickov ujak Albert.

Are you as tired of seeing remakes and movies about the undead as I am? Well then here's something a little different. Not original, but a change of
pace. I haven't read the book, but the trailer looked good and so did the cast list. Plus instead of young people being done in one by by zombies,
vampires, or a masked slasher it's a variation on the old man vs. nature idea, something not seen much recently and certainly not with so much blood
and gore.
Pros: A talented and likable young cast. The scenery is lush and beautiful, as is the cinematography. Instead of just jumping right into the horror,
the filmmakers try to create suspense and a little build-up. Moves at a pretty good pace. Plenty of moments and images that'll make you cringe.
Impressive gore and make-up effects, and plenty of the former. A good and subtle score that sounds like a creepy rumbling sound at times.
Cons: As good as the actors are, the characters they play are pretty underwritten, which makes it hard to really get to know them. The CGI is pretty
poor. There's really nothing we haven't already seen before. Sometimes the characters do really stupid things. A few cheap boo scares.
Final thoughts: Not likely to be the best horror film of the year, but you could do much worse. It's nice to see a horror film that isn't so flashy,
teen-friendly, and devoid of suspense, which is exactly what the remake of 'Prom Night,' which hit theatres a week after this, looks like. But I
know you hardcore horror buffs know better than that.
I wasn't too psyched for this movie beforehand, but I got a free pass and figured why the hell not and wound up seeing one of the better horror films
I've seen in a good while. Thes best thing I can say about "The Ruins" is that it plays its hand honestly, there's no tweeny BS, no winking at the
camera, it's just a classic situational horror film that just keeps getting from bad to worse in the best possible way. Like I said, I got in for
free and I kinda feel like I owe 'The Ruins" 10 bucks. But as a small caveat, I saw this film with a bunch of pretentious jackasses sitting behind
me and surprise surprise, they didn't like it. So if you fall into that category than do yourselves and anyone who can enjoy a straight shot horror
film a favor and stay away.

Novi Ruski HIT pise da je izasao u Novembru 2007 ali film je kasnio tako da je izasao pre 2-3 meseca(DVD kvalitet). Ovde isto ocekujem guzvu pustite
prvo da skinu korisnici sa jacom "vezom". Postavicu svaki HIT van ENG. govornog podrucja koji moji prevodioci urade ... iako su na odmoru -
rastrkani po svetu !

This second feature film from Russian director Andrei Zvyagintsev had a lot to live up to considering how great his 2003 debut, The Return, was. I was
really a bit skeptical going in because the advanced reviews had been mixed, and I really didn't know how a director who had made such brilliant use
of the Russian landscape as almost a perpetually menacing character in its own right, would handle what sounded like a very indoor domestic drama. Boy
was I wrong to doubt. Zvyagintsev and cinematographer Mikhail Krichman find an abundance of interesting things to shoot, from drab constantly overcast
soviet-era industrial cities to old decaying farmsteads. I love the way these two frame and light almost every shot and the slow stalking way the
camera pans and moves is almost deliberately predatory. I'd probably be mesmerized if these two shot nothing but landscapes and people for two hours
with no plot whatsoever, which, to be fair, is what the movie feels like at times, considering how minimal and terse the typically Russian script is.
The story revolves around a man (played by Konstantin Lavronenko who also starred in the Return), who moves his wife and two young children from the
city to his father's old farm in the country where he expects better prospects for work. While in the country his wife reveals something that
threatens to tear the family apart. Like the Return, the Banishment is about the tragic consequences of the failure of individuals to make emotional
contact, communicate, and ultimately understand each other. Unfortunately the final denouement, which unravels through a few too many twists for a
story this simple and sparse, is really unsatisfying because it strips all the characters of any last shred of sympathy, leaving the audience almost
indifferent towards them. Still, this was so brilliantly photographed and paced that I couldn't help but enjoy every shot.
SINOPSIS: The film, which was called "hipnotizing, beautifull story" in british The Times. It is a story about lonelinsss, lack of understanding and
hard realtions between people. The plot of "Ang tyt filmu" takes place in a country, where its wild nature is the only witness of a tragic incident.
Film is about Alexand his family, who return to the place where he spent his childhood. The main characters in their loneliness expose the deepest
secrets of ther souls.

One doesn't have to be brilliant to understand Andrei Zvyagintsev's movies, still one must be very flexible with his own cultural background if
interested to comprehend the images Zvyagintsev makes use of. So, my vote (10) goes especially for this aspect, with a minimal astriction for the
screenplay, slightly overexposed. Altogether, the director proved he is able to move to different fields.
After The Return, I expected to see another close-to-Tarkovski picture, but it's not the case. Izgnanie rebuilds other spaces (think of the affinity
for the Flemish and the Dutch painters, even if somehow altered in the old Russian manner) and distributes along the images a new and equally strong
despondency. The images are just superb, with hundreds of important details in need to be discussed. My feeling is that nothing goes for the
characters as they are continuously overwritten by their own disability to surpass the air they themselves have exhaled.
A must see
In "The Return" we saw a citation from renaissance painting by Andrea Mantenia,"The Lamentation over the Dead Christ", which had been cited also
by Tarkovsky in "Soryalis". Then we saw also black and white photography,resembling in texture to that in "The Mirror(Zerkolo)",and tracking back
into the forest from open space with the water("The Mirror" and "Sacrifice"). All these citations or reminiscences naturally reminded us of
Tarkovsky's cinematographic tradition. So it's not strange that Zvyagintsev was then mentioned as his successor.
But in "Izgnanie" we can see also reminiscences of another,religious and one of the greatest director;Robert Bresson. Children with a little donkey
from "Au hasard, Balthazar",the use of windows and doors as symbols of human isolation,framing of shots which make us feel not too close,not too
distant form characters... As far as I remember, Bresson wrote about "ironed"shots as his ideal material for editing.For him,and for
Zvyagintsev,cinema is not an instrument to "move" viewers' soul,but only a key, through which every viewer's mind must find the way to the higher
Order. I would say that Bresson made religious novella in laconic prose, but Zvyagintsev makes religious fable with poetic language.
In this time too, we see reminiscences of Tarkovsky(the composition and camera movement of the first shot,for example),but here an another
tradition,which the director follows, is clearly shown.

Arn, the son of a high-ranking Swedish nobleman is educated in a monastery and sent to the Holy Land as a knight templar to do penance for a forbidden
love.
I must say this one surprised me, it was better than i thought it would be. Joakim Nätterqvist did an awesome performance, i've met him several
times since he's my cousins ex so i know him personally and this just what he needed, might this be a new start for a career for Jocke? who knows.
To the movie now...
When title shows up and the beautiful music is being played in the background i'm getting a good felling about it. But then the narrator starts to
talk and i have to say he didn't fit in any good, it was just like watching Animal planet. The narrator didn't fit in at all, in fact some people in
the audience actually started to laugh, that's rare.
I've heard that some have said that this is the best Swedish movie ever made. For me that's not true, i say that Evil is the best Swedish film. But
Arn is just what we in Sweden needed. For all the shitty movies that have been made this was a lift. Perhaps now Sweden will be marked on the map
again in film making. Since Bergman died it has been rough for us to get attention in movie making. So i hope Arn goes internationally, due to the
fact that they speak more English than Swedish.
But when i've heard from Joakim Nätterqvist that they were gonna re-cut the movie to suit a more younger audience i was a bit worried, i didn't
want it to be an Astrid Lindgren movie. But it didn't turn out that way, some parts were actually pretty violent and contained some gore. I've seen
worse though but that's something i would like to warn all the sensitive audience's for.
The music for the movie was perfect in my opinion, i don't know who wrote it but my hat goes of for that person.

I heard this movie didn't get the best kinds of reviews so I decided to watch it while in Stockholm.
...minor spoilers coming...
I was wrong. It was magical and it actually seemed even better a few days after I watched it. Don't expect another Gladiator or Kingdom of Heaven.
These movies were fantastic but this one was quite different, but not the least bit less good. As someone here pointed out you will not see big
battles like in Gladiator but a medieval epic can be good even without these huge battles, can it not? I am a big fan of medieval action so I know
what I am talking about.
Fortunately (?) I never read the books so I can't compare the movie to them. I also liked the actors chosen for the film. They were not too
well-known and therefore good choices.
I'm glad the film was shot in Sweden and not in Eastern Europe. The Swedish locations were absolutely right for this film and Romanian or Slovakian
locations (who ARE otherwise fabulous) would have been wrong for this particular film.
